Women of Haarlem retells the history of the city through its female figures. Our guided walking tours lead you through the historic center and introduce you to artists, resistance fighters and pioneers who are rarely found in the standard history books.

The Original Women of Haarlem Walking Tour

Our signature tour takes you to key locations in Haarlem's city center and introduces you to historical figures who shaped the city. It takes place every four weeks on weekends during the winter season. Want to come with your own group on a date that suits you? Collaboration Tours: Art, Architecture and Resistance

Alongside the original tour, I have developed three tours together with partners. They have run before and will return. Keep an eye on this page and our social media for new dates. For groups of 8-12 people, these tours can also be requested privately.

Women Artists of Haarlem, with the Verwey Museum
A hybrid tour that begins with a 1.5-hour walk through the city, then continues with a short tour of the highlights related to women of the Verwey Museum. Afterwards you are free to explore the museum's collection at your own pace. The ticket offers you a 50% off museum ticket fare, in case you don’t have Museum Kaart.

Women & Architecture Tour: Haarlem Edition, with Gebouwen door Vrouwen
Haarlem's architecture designed by women, a group historically underrepresented and often erased from architectural history. Together with Gebouwen door Vrouwen, a platform that maps and celebrates buildings designed by women across the Netherlands, we walk past hidden gems in the city center.

A Hannie Schaft Walking Tour, with Sophie Poldermans
A tour honoring Hannie Schaft and her resistance partners Truus and Freddie Oversteegen. Storytelling by bestselling author Sophie Poldermans (Seducing and Killing Nazis, Desnoods met Wapens) brings their story to life, with historical context from Oana.
